Anisa is a young artist with a fine sense of the human form and a lightness of touch that conveys movement and vitality. Her figures come alive with depth of character and expression. Her very first book received a remarkable award: Eliza and the Dragonfly was named Best Picture Book of the Year by the International Reading Association. The IRA had thousands of picture books to choose from! Her next book for Dawn Publications was a light-hearted look at dinosaurs, If You Give a T-Rex a Bone. What could have been a scary scene in which a boy was surprised by dangerous dinosaurs in ancient habitat after ancient habitat, Anisa transformed into a humorous scene of peek-a-boo. Her latest book, illustration project, Earth Heroes: Champions of the Wilderness, has a black-and-white illustrations of great naturalists. All are based on careful research. Anisa is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art. She lives near Seattle on the shores of Lake Washington. Anisa is also a certified a massage and cranio-sacral therapist.
